Overview
The MetaMask Chrome Extension is one of the most widely used tools in the Web3 ecosystem. It serves as a digital wallet for Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks, enabling users to store, send, receive, and swap tokens. More importantly, MetaMask acts as a bridge between your browser and decentralized applications (dApps), giving you full control of your private keys and transactions.
Why choose MetaMask?
- User-friendly: Quick installation and intuitive interface make it beginner-friendly.
- Web3 gateway: Connect to thousands of dApps including DeFi platforms and NFT marketplaces.
- Security: Private keys are encrypted and stored locally in your browser.
- Flexibility: Add multiple networks, custom tokens, and use hardware wallet integration.

- Double-check website URLs before connecting your wallet.
- Use a hardware wallet integration (Ledger, Trezor) for added security.
- Lock MetaMask when not in use and keep your browser updated.
Troubleshooting
- Extension not visible: Pin the MetaMask icon from Chrome’s extensions menu.
- Transaction failed: Check gas fees, network congestion, and sufficient token balance.
- Missing tokens: Add custom token contract addresses to display balances.
- Stuck transactions: Speed up or cancel pending transactions in MetaMask.
